Application Instructions:

Surface Preparation:

  • All surfaces to be coated should be clean, dry, and free from contaminants. Before painting, all surfaces should be assessed and treated according to ISO 8504:2000 standards.
  • Surface of the primer: This product should always be applied over the recommended anti-corrosion primer. The primer surface should be dry and free from contaminants.
  • Areas with peeling and damage should be treated to meet the Sa2.5 (ISO 8501-1:1988) or SSPC-SP6 blast cleaning standard or the SSPC-SP11 manual/power tool cleaning standard. Apply an additional primer coat to these areas before applying this product.
  • Manual or power tool cleaning: Perform manual or power tool cleaning to at least St3 (ISO 8501-1:1988) or SSPC-SP2 standards. Note: All mill scale must be removed, and areas not adequately treated with chisels or needle guns should be locally blast cleaned to at least Sa2 (ISO 8501-1:1988) or SSPC-SP6 standards. Generally, this applies to C-grade or D-grade rust standards.
  • Pre-coated zinc primers: Check if the primer surface is clean, dry, free from contaminants and zinc salts, then apply this product. Ensure that the zinc primer has fully cured before applying other coatings.

Recommended Surface Roughness: 50-75 microns

The substrate temperature should not be less than 10°C and should be at least 3°C higher than the dew point temperature.

Mixing:

This product is supplied in two containers and should be mixed to form a single unit. Each time, it must be mixed in the specified ratio, mixed in pairs, and used within the recommended pot life.

  • (1) Stir the base material (A) with a power mixer.
  • (2) Combine all of the curing agent (B) with the base material (A) and thoroughly mix with a power mixer.

Pot Life:

Thinner: BTE Thinner

Application Methods: Airless Spray Air Spray (with pressure pot) Brush Application / Roller Application

Thinning Ratio:

  • 0-5% 5-15% 5-10%

Airless Spray:

Nozzle Size: 0.58-0.79mm Spray Pressure: 15 MPa

Drying Times:

(Wet Film Thickness 156μm, Relative Humidity 50%)

15°C 25°C 35°C

  • Tack-Free 8 hours 4 hours 2 hours
  • Handleable 18 hours 10 hours 4 hours
  • Full Cure 14 days 7 days 3 days

Recoating Interval: (with this product as the recoat)

(Wet Film Thickness 156μm, Relative Humidity 50%)

15°C 25°C 35°C

  • Minimum 18 hours 10 hours 4 hours

Note: The above data is for guidance only. Actual drying and recoat times can vary depending on film thickness, ventilation, humidity, underlying paint, early loading/unloading requirements, and mechanical strength, among other factors.

For airless spray application, the highest film thickness for a single coat can be achieved. For other application methods outside airless spray, it may not be possible to achieve the required film thickness with a single coat. With air spray application, multiple cross coats are required to achieve the highest film thickness.

Tool Cleaning: Clean all tools with BTE Thinner after use.

Safety: Handle this product with care. Pay attention to safety instructions on the packaging label before and during use. Additionally, comply with safety regulations set by relevant national or local authorities. Avoid inhaling solvent vapors and prevent paint contact with the skin and eyes. If paint splashes on the skin, wash immediately with appropriate cleansers, soap, and water. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse with copious amounts of water and seek medical attention. Fire prevention, explosion prevention, and environmental protection measures must be taken. Only apply this product in well-ventilated conditions.

Notes:

  • Apply this product in conditions where temperatures are above 10°C, and application and curing can proceed as intended. The paint temperature itself must be above 15°C, and the tank temperature is preferably below 25°C. The maximum relative humidity during curing should be 80%, ideally in the range of 40-60%. The application surface must be dry, clean, and have a temperature higher than the dew point to avoid condensation. Adequate ventilation should be provided during application in confined spaces or during drying. To prevent moisture condensation, the substrate surface temperature should be at least 3°C above the dew point, and avoid application in rainy, snowy, or foggy weather.
  • Mix in the ratio indicated on the packaging label and use after thorough stirring.
  • Use the mixed paint within the specified time frame. Exceeding the usable time frame may result in gelation, rendering it unusable. Adjust the quantity to match the working time, which shortens with higher temperatures.
  • Before applying the next coat, clean the surface of the previous coat from oil, condensation, welding spatter, and dust.
  • Drying times are affected by temperature, humidity, and film thickness variations.
  • Recoating intervals depend on environmental factors. If the maximum recoating interval is exceeded, the surface should be roughened to ensure intercoat adhesion.
  • Store the paint in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated indoor warehouse, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
  • Personnel should wear appropriate personal protective equipment as per regulations. The construction site and storage area should be equipped with fire-fighting equipment, and open flames and smoking should be prohibited to prevent fires.
  • This product is intended for professional use.
