Description
Key Features:
KD-NSF-Fp-JY-SG is an indoor non-expansive fireproof coating for steel structures developed by our company. It is a gypsum-based, water-based non-expansive fireproof coating. Its fire-resistant performance and physicochemical properties surpass the requirements stipulated for indoor non-expansive fireproof coatings for steel structures in the GB14907-2018 standard. This environmentally friendly coating can be widely used for indoor fire protection of steel structures.
Substrate Treatment and Application Methods:
1. Substrate Treatment:
1.1 Surface Treatment for Steel Structures:
a. New Ordinary Steel Structures: – Sandblast and remove rust from the steel structure surface, followed by applying a compatible anti-rust and anti-corrosion coating. We recommend using an epoxy zinc-rich primer followed by an epoxy cloud iron intermediate coat system.
b. Galvanized Steel Structures: – To ensure good adhesion with the fireproof coating, it is necessary to use an epoxy coating transition paint after surface treatment.
c. Old Steel Structures or Old Primed Surfaces: – If the primer is undamaged, the surface is clean, check the compatibility between the fireproof coating and the primer. If there is no primer or the primer is significantly damaged, it must be repainted after rust removal.
1.2 Before Construction:
- Thoroughly inspect the steel components for the presence of rust protection coatings, dust, oil residue, rust spots, cracks, and inadequate welding. Proceed with construction only after confirming there are no issues.
1.3 Steel components that have not undergone rust protection treatment must be treated accordingly. (Generally, this step is the user’s responsibility.)
2. Fireproof Coating Application:
a. First Layer Application:
– **Coating Ratio:** JY-SG powder: Binder = 10:1. First, mix the binder and water in a 1:1 ratio, and then blend with the powder. Afterward, add an appropriate amount of water and mix thoroughly (the amount of water added during mixing can be adjusted based on on-site application conditions for ease of application).
– **Application Method:** Apply using the spray method, with a coating thickness of 3-4mm and a textured surface. The coating should be allowed to cure for 24 hours before proceeding to the next step.
b. Subsequent Layer Application:
– **Recommended Ratio:** JY-SG powder: Water = 1:1.1-1.2. Add the pre-measured fireproof coating powder and an appropriate amount of water to the mixing machine (the amount of water added during mixing can be adjusted based on on-site application conditions for ease of application). Mix thoroughly for 5-8 minutes before proceeding with the application.
– **Fireproof Coating Application:**
– The fireproof coating can be applied using a grout pump for spray application, a gravity-feed spray gun, or manual trowel application.
– **Spray Application Guidelines:**
1. The fireproof coating can be applied in a single pass, with the specific method dependent on the construction environment, temperature, and site conditions. Generally, a circumferential spray method can be used, surrounding the steel structure until the required thickness is achieved.
2. When spraying, the spray gun should be held perpendicular to the sprayed steel components, with a distance of 0.5-0.6 meters. Maintain an air pressure of 0.6-0.8MPa, with a spray gun nozzle diameter of 8-12mm (or 6-8mm for gravity-feed spray guns). Move the spray gun evenly to avoid prolonged dwell time in one area, which can lead to material buildup.
3. Use a trowel to apply coating to areas that cannot be reached by the spray until the required thickness is achieved. During the spray process, control the spray distance and angle to minimize bounce. Coating that falls to the ground should not be remixed and reused.
– **Special Reinforcement Measures:**
– For structures where the coating is not completely wrapped or when vibration or specific strength requirements exist, it is recommended to reinforce with high-strength fiberglass mesh. When the coating thickness is midway to the total design thickness, add a layer of high-strength fiberglass mesh, overlapping it by 5-10cm. Use a trowel to compress the mesh in one direction and ensure proper compression at corners and joints.
1. Typically, the design thickness is achieved through two layers of application. The first layer should be thin, generally ≤5mm. Once the surface has dried to approximately 70-80%, apply the second layer to reach the design thickness.
2. Pay attention to compacting the application and maintain a slightly rough surface texture to facilitate adhesion between the layers.
Construction Precautions:
- During transportation and storage, protect the fireproof coating from rain and moisture. Do not use the coating if it has solidified into clumps.
- Coating should be used within 30 minutes of mixing. If it thickens during use, add a small amount of water and mix thoroughly.
- Cover areas that do not require coating. After construction, avoid rain exposure to the coating.
- After construction, equipment and tools should be cleaned with water.
- The ideal temperature for coating application is above 5°C.
- In the week following coating application, take measures to prevent strong vibration and impact on beams and columns.
- Pay attention to safety and use proper safety equipment.
