Application Instructions:

Surface Preparation:

The performance of this product depends on the extent of surface preparation. The surface to be painted must be clean, dry, and free from contaminants. Before applying the paint, all surfaces should be assessed and treated in accordance with ISO 8504:2000 standards. Accumulated dirt and soluble salts must be removed. Dirt can typically be removed with a dry brush. Soluble salts should be removed through freshwater rinsing.

Oil and grease should be removed in accordance with the SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning standard.

Sandblasting should be carried out to Sa2.5 (ISO 8501-1:2007) or SSPC-SP6 standards. If oxidation occurs on the surface between sandblasting and the application of this product, the surface should be re-blasted to meet the specified standards.

Surface defects exposed during sandblasting should be ground, filled, or addressed using appropriate methods. A recommended surface roughness is 50-70 microns.

The substrate temperature should not be lower than 10°C, and it should be at least 3°C higher than the dew point temperature.

Mixing:

This product is supplied in two containers, forming one unit. It must be mixed in pairs according to the specified ratio each time and used up within the prescribed mixing and use period.

  1. Mix the base (Component A) with a mechanical stirrer.
  2. Thoroughly mix all the curing agent (Component B) with the base (Component A) using a mechanical stirrer.

Mixing and Use Period:

  • 15°C: 4 hours
  • 25°C: 2 hours
  • 40°C: 1 hour

Note: The above data is for guidance only. Actual drying and recoat times can vary depending on film thickness, ventilation, humidity, underlying paint, early loading/unloading requirements, and mechanical strength, among other factors.

This product is suitable for underwater and outdoor atmospheric environments. For underwater applications, a minimum paint system thickness of 450 microns is required for long-lasting corrosion protection. For general outdoor atmospheric exposure, a minimum paint system thickness of 350 microns is required. Airless spray application provides the highest film thickness in a single coat. With other application methods, the required film thickness cannot be achieved. For air spray application to reach the maximum film thickness, multiple cross coats are necessary. When applying this product by brush or roller, multiple coating layers are required to reach the specified total dry film thickness.

Tool Cleaning: Clean all tools with BTE Thinner after use.

Safety: Handle this product with care. Pay attention to safety instructions on the packaging label before and during use. Additionally, comply with safety regulations set by relevant national or local authorities. Avoid inhaling solvent vapors and prevent paint contact with the skin and eyes. If paint splashes on the skin, wash immediately with appropriate cleansers, soap, and water. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse with copious amounts of water and seek medical attention. Fire prevention, explosion prevention, and environmental protection measures must be taken. Only apply this product in well-ventilated conditions.

Notes:

  • Apply this product in conditions where temperatures are above 10°C, and application and curing can proceed as intended. The paint temperature itself must be above 15°C, and the tank temperature is preferably below 25°C. The maximum relative humidity during the curing process should be 80%, with an ideal range of 40-60%. The application surface must be dry, clean, and have a temperature higher than the dew point to avoid condensation. Adequate ventilation should be provided during application in confined spaces and during drying. To prevent moisture condensation, the substrate surface temperature should be at least 3°C above the dew point, and avoid application in rainy, snowy, or foggy weather.
  • Mix in the ratio indicated on the packaging label and use after thorough stirring.
  • Use the mixed paint within the specified use period. Exceeding the use period may result in gelation and render the paint unusable, so mix an appropriate amount. When the temperature rises, the use period will shorten.
  • Before applying the next coat of paint, clean the surface of the previous coat by removing oil, condensation, welding spatters, and dust.
  • Drying times are affected by temperature, humidity, and film thickness variations.
  • Recoating intervals depend on environmental factors. If the maximum recoating interval is exceeded, the surface should be roughened to ensure intercoat adhesion.
  • Store the paint in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated indoor warehouse, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
  • Personnel should wear appropriate personal protective equipment as per regulations. The construction site and storage area should be equipped with fire-fighting equipment, and open flames and smoking should be prohibited to prevent fires.
  • This product is intended for professional use.
