Description
Main Features:
- Compatible with various high-performance coating systems and topcoats.
- Suitable for use in dock facilities, oil refineries, bridges, steel structures, etc.
Product Description:
This product is a two-component, solvent-based, inorganic zinc silicate primer. The zinc content in the dry film complies with the requirements of HGT 3668-2009 for dry film zinc content in paints.
Physical Parameters:
- Color: Gray
- Volume Solids: 40±2%
- Standard Dry Film Thickness: Dry Film: 50 microns Wet Film: 125 microns
- Theoretical Coverage Rate: 4.7 m²/kg, 8 m²/L (based on 50 microns dry film)
- Actual Coverage Rate: Considering appropriate loss factor
- Flash Point: 18±2°C
Application Instructions:
Surface Preparation:
- All surfaces to be coated should be clean, dry, and free from contaminants. Before painting, all surfaces should be assessed and treated according to ISO 8504:1992 standards.
- If grease is present, solvent cleaning should be performed according to SSPC-SP1.
- Steel surfaces should be abrasive blasted to Sa2.5 (ISO 8501-1:1988) or SSPC-SP6 (to achieve the best performance, SSPC-SP10 standards should be met). If oxidation occurs on the steel surface after blasting but before applying the coating, the surface should be re-blasted to meet the specified visual standards.
- Surface defects exposed during blasting should be ground, filled, or otherwise addressed as appropriate.
- A recommended surface roughness is 30-50 microns.
The substrate temperature should not be less than 5°C and should be at least 3°C higher than the dew point temperature. Inorganic zinc-rich coatings typically require moisture to cure. In cases of low environmental humidity, artificial humidification of the surroundings is recommended to increase humidity.
Mixing:
This product is supplied in two parts: a paste component (Component A) and a liquid base component (Component B). The liquid base (Component B) should be slowly added to the paste component (Component A) while stirring with a mechanical mixer. Do not add the paste component to the liquid base. The paint should be filtered before application, and continuous stirring should be carried out while spraying. Once mixed, the paint should be used within the specified activation period.

Note: The above data is for guidance only. Actual drying and recoat times can vary depending on film thickness, ventilation, humidity, underlying paint, early loading/unloading requirements, and mechanical strength, among other factors.
Tool Cleaning: Clean all tools with BTO Thinner after use.
Safety: Handle this product with care. Pay attention to safety instructions on the packaging label before and during use. Additionally, comply with safety regulations set by relevant national or local authorities. Avoid inhaling solvent vapors and prevent paint contact with the skin and eyes. If paint splashes on the skin, wash immediately with appropriate cleansers, soap, and water. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse with copious amounts of water and seek medical attention. Fire prevention, explosion prevention, and environmental protection measures must be taken. Only apply this product in well-ventilated conditions.
Notes:
- Apply this product in conditions where temperatures are above 5°C, and application and curing can proceed as intended. The paint temperature itself must be above 15°C, and the tank temperature is preferably below 25°C. The curing process should ideally occur in conditions with a relative humidity of over 60%. Application of excessively thick coatings may lead to cracking. If cracking occurs, the affected areas must be thoroughly removed by blasting, and reapplication should follow the original paint scheme. The application surface must be dry, clean, and have a temperature higher than the dew point to avoid condensation. Adequate ventilation should be provided during application in confined spaces or during drying. To prevent moisture condensation, the substrate surface temperature should be at least 3°C above the dew point, and avoid application in rainy, snowy, or foggy weather.
- Mix in the ratio indicated on the packaging label and use after thorough stirring.
- The coating must be fully cured before applying the next coat, and curing strength should be verified using a ketone wipe test.
- Drying times are affected by temperature, humidity, and film thickness variations.
- Recoating intervals depend on environmental factors. If the maximum recoating interval is exceeded, the surface should be roughened to ensure intercoat adhesion.
- Store the paint in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated indoor warehouse, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
- Personnel should wear appropriate personal protective equipment as per regulations. The construction site and storage area should be equipped with fire-fighting equipment, and open flames and smoking should be prohibited to prevent fires.
- This product is intended for professional use.
