KD-WSP-FT JY-WB Outdoor Intumescent Steel Structure Fire Retardant Coating

(This product has a fireproof AB label, and the A label is posted on the packaging barrel. Please ask our company for the B label) KD-WSP-Ft-JY-WB is an outdoor intumescent steel structure fire retardant coating that can withstand hydrocarbon fires and its fire retardant performance , physical and chemical properties are better than the requirements of outdoor intumescent steel structure fire retardant coatings in the GB14907-2018 standard. The products can be widely used in the petroleum and petrochemical industries as well as the fire protection of outdoor steel structures in industrial and civil buildings.

Description

Key Features:

  • People-oriented, environmentally friendly, low smoke production, and low toxicity.
  • Early production, mature technology, advanced techniques, and a rational formulation.
  • Excellent durability and reliable resistance to fatigue.

Substrate and Surface Requirements:

Substrate Requirements:

Before construction, it is crucial to thoroughly inspect the steel components for the presence of rust-proof coatings, dust, oil residue, rust spots, condensation, and any structural issues such as cracks and improper welding. Construction can only commence if there are no issues.

Primer Requirements:

KD-WSP-Ft1.50-JY-WB, an outdoor expansive fireproof coating for steel structures, can be effectively combined with standard national epoxy resin anti-corrosion primers or intermediate coatings (such as epoxy zinc-rich primers and epoxy cloud iron intermediate coatings). The primer and intermediate coat must have a smooth and intact surface, completely sealing the substrate. Otherwise, it may lead to delamination of the fireproof coating and corrosion of the substrate. If other types of primers are to be used, compatibility testing should be conducted (performed by a professional organization or based on on-site coating tests).

Note: Fireproof coatings should not be applied directly to substrates without anti-corrosion coatings or on galvanized surfaces, as this could lead to substrate corrosion and detachment of the fireproof coating.

Topcoat Requirements:

Our company requires the application of an anti-corrosion topcoat over the KD-WSP-Ft1.50-JY-WB fireproof coating to enhance the overall durability of the composite coating system in outdoor environments and protect against external environmental degradation. Polyurethane topcoats or silicone-based topcoats with higher corrosion resistance levels are recommended based on the site’s conditions.

Construction Environment Requirements:

Temperature Requirements:

  • Suitable temperature: 15-30°C
  • Extreme temperature: 5-35°C

Humidity Requirements:

  • Suitable humidity: 10-70%
  • Extreme humidity: 0-80%

Other Environmental Requirements:

  1. Construction should avoid rainy or snowy weather, and measures should be taken to prevent precipitation. In case of unexpected precipitation, protective measures should be promptly applied to steel beams or columns at risk of rain exposure.
  2. If other processes are carried out concurrently with fireproof coating application, precautions should be taken to avoid interference and contamination of other processes. Simultaneously, avoid processes affecting the fireproof coating application.
  3. If equipment or other items are introduced to the site during fireproof coating application, advance communication is necessary to relocate or shield equipment and items.

Pre-Construction Preparation:

Environmental Inspection:

Before construction, ensure that the construction environment meets the requirements to avoid potential quality issues with the coating.

Substrate Inspection:

Examine the pre-construction substrate for factors that may impact the coating quality, such as dust, oil residue, condensation, rust spots, missed primer application, and improper welding. If any issues are found, they must be addressed to meet the requirements before proceeding with construction.

GT-WSP-Ft1.50-JY-WB Outdoor Expansive Fireproof Coating Pre-Use Preparation:

  1. Prior to opening the container, verify the authenticity of the coating by checking the fire product identity information code and production batch information on the packaging drum’s body.
  2. Check for any abnormal conditions upon opening the container.
  3. Stir the coating evenly after confirming there are no abnormalities.
  4. If the coating is too thick, you can dilute it with a moderate amount of neutral water, not exceeding 5% of the coating volume.
  5. If there are any other abnormal conditions with the coating, promptly contact the company’s personnel to assess and address the on-site situation.

Application Methods:

  • Spraying is recommended. Apply each layer up to ≤1mm (dry film) or ≤1.5mm (wet film) until the required thickness is reached.
  • The interval between each layer should be at least 12 hours.
  • During product use, it is advisable to use alkaline-free fiberglass cloth for wrapping when the coating reaches a thickness of approximately 1.5-2.5mm (dry film). Overlap the fiberglass mesh by 5-10cm, press it in one direction with a trowel, ensuring full compression without any voids before proceeding to the next layer.

Notes:

  1. Construction should be conducted in well-ventilated environments.
  2. Construction should be avoided when condensation is present on the component’s surface.
  3. Unused coating should be tightly sealed for future use.
  4. This product should be shielded from rain, rainwater soaking, and moisture during construction and maintenance to avoid impacting coating adhesion performance and overall appearance.
  5. Dusty weather and site dust should be monitored during construction to prevent dust from coming into contact with the coating before it is dry, as this can affect the coating’s adhesion strength and fire resistance.
  6. Once the coating is completely dry after construction, apply a topcoat promptly to ensure the overall coating’s durability.
  7. Fireproof coatings should not be directly applied to substrates without anti-corrosion protection or on galvanized surfaces to avoid potential problems such as substrate corrosion and coating delamination.
  8. During construction, construction personnel should wear appropriate protective equipment.

Maintenance Methods:

  • Recommended maintenance duration is one month.
  • Maintenance environment should have temperatures between 5-35°C, humidity below 80%, good air circulation, and protection from direct sunlight.
  • In cases of damage or defects during the coating’s maintenance period, preventive and repair measures should be taken. Any damage should be repaired according to normal procedures. If the damage affects the primer or substrate, repairs should be conducted on the substrate and primer before proceeding with the fireproof coating repair.
  • Note:Waterproof and moisture protection should be maintained during the maintenance period.

Storage and Transportation:

  • Store this coating at temperatures above 5°C, with a shelf life of 6 months. During transportation, precautions should be taken to prevent freezing and exposure to sunlight. Storage should also avoid factors like high temperatures, direct sunlight, rain exposure, humidity, and low temperatures.

Friendly Reminder: Fireproof coatings produced and sold by our company feature a fire product identity information label (A label) on the smallest packaging. Verify the product information by checking the code on the drum body and production certificate. Product information can be checked on the Chinese Fire Product Information website or through our company.
