Key Features:
KD-NSP-Fp2.00-SB-2 is an indoor expansive fireproof coating for steel structures developed by our company. It is a water-based expansive fireproof coating with a thin layer, strong adhesion, excellent fire-resistant performance, and superior decorative effects. It is environmentally friendly and can be widely used for indoor fire protection of steel structures.
Substrate Treatment and Application Methods:
(I) Substrate Treatment:
- Surface Treatment for Steel Structures:
- For New Ordinary Steel Structures: Sandblast and remove rust from the steel structure surface. Apply a compatible anti-rust and anti-corrosion coating. We recommend using an epoxy zinc-rich primer followed by an epoxy cloud iron intermediate coat system.
- For Galvanized Steel Structures: To ensure good adhesion with the fireproof coating, it is necessary to use an epoxy coating transition paint after surface treatment.
- For Old Steel Structures or Old Primed Surfaces: If the primer is undamaged and the surface is clean, check the compatibility between the fireproof coating and the primer. If there is no primer or the primer is significantly damaged, it must be repainted after rust removal.
- Before Construction: Thoroughly inspect steel components for the presence of rust protection coatings, dust, oil residue, and check for cracks, welding defects, or other issues. Proceed with construction only after confirming there are no issues.
- For steel components that have not undergone rust protection treatment, rust protection must be performed (usually the responsibility of the user).
(II) Application of Fireproof Coating:
- Opening of Packaging: Use electric stirring until the consistency is uniform. If the coating is too thick, add a small amount of neutral water until it reaches a suitable consistency, but do not exceed 5% of the coating volume.
- This coating can be applied by brushing or rolling with alternating horizontal and vertical strokes between each layer, ensuring an even and smooth application.
- Requirements for Temperature and Humidity during Application: The coating should be applied at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C with a relative humidity of ≤80%. High humidity or low temperatures can extend drying time and reduce adhesion and other performance.
- The thickness of the first layer applied should not exceed 0.2mm.
- After the first layer has partially dried, apply the next layer until the specified thickness is reached, with each layer’s dry film thickness not exceeding 0.2mm (wet film 0.2-0.3mm).
- Under normal temperature conditions, the interval between each layer should be at least 12 hours. This interval may be adjusted if the temperature is excessively high or low.
- During the application of this product, it is recommended to use alkaline-free fiberglass cloth for wrapping. When the coating thickness reaches approximately 1.5mm (dry film), wrap it with alkaline-free fiberglass mesh, overlapping it by 5-10cm. Use a trowel to press the mesh in one direction and ensure proper compression at corners and joints. Ensure full compression and no voids before proceeding to the next layer.
- High humidity, low air movement, or low steel temperature can lead to condensation on the steel, resulting in poor coating adhesion, cracking, peeling, or flaking.
Notes:
- During construction, the building should be sealed to prevent exposure to rain, rainwater soaking, and direct sunlight. In cases of prolonged use in a semi-enclosed state, it is recommended to apply a high-performance topcoat.
- This product does not offer color customization. If color selection is required, a matching topcoat can be used.
- To enhance the fire stability of the fireproof coating on critical areas of steel structures during a fire, it is recommended to wrap high-strength fiberglass cloth during construction.
- The temperature during transport should not fall below 0°C, and storage temperature should be above 5°C.
- This coating should not be mixed with other components or used in combination with other coatings.
